I Can Play The (Plastic) Guitar Like A Motherf**kin Riot!

I'M BACK! So let's get back to business. Today, the music of today's generation is hip-hop and rap. The only way rock has been getting into the main stream, is through Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE these games, but that's what they are GAMES. And as much as I love them them, they have a Lotta negative effects on people. Let's take a look because I have two major problems.

Typical Rock Band Player: " I can play Guitar Hero on expert, I can play guitar/drums for real!"

You're Wrong! You're Wrong! You're WRONG! Just because you can press 5 colored buttons on a video game controller means that you're good at Guitar Hero, not guitar. Holding down a fret button and strumming is not how you play guitar, not even close. There are hammer ons, pull offs, bending, different ways to strum, etc. And I don't even know how to play guitar. Same thing with drums. True you may have speed and rhythm down, but you need coordination and timing in Rock Band is not the same as timing in a real band. Your real band members don't play like the profession stars (well I'm assuming) and won't play the same as a band in a game. The only thing similar is singing, which I guess can teach you tone and pitch.

"I listen to alot of rock. You know Say It Ain't So, Chop Suey, Run to the Hills, Painkiller, etc."

I hate those people alot. When your entire rock collection is the game's set list, that's sad. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are great ways to get into music, but the thing is most people just download one song, put it on their iPod and just listening to that one song. If you hear a song you like to play or just listen to, you shouldn't just download that one, you should download others by the artist or at least listen to them. I'll admit these games got me into The Offspring, The Cars, and Blondie.

"I'm in a real band, but it's online"

I can't believe I've actually met people who have said this. It's sad. It's one thing to be in an online band, playing real interments, and jamming via the net, but playing Rock Band is NOT a real band. I should'nt even be typing this!

That's all I can think of now, maybe later I'll post more but for now, that's all. Later, my thoughts on the Oscars
